When you apply for a job, how long does it take to get a response?

I applied for a job last Monday on the company website. How long does it take before I will know if they are interested? Is there an average? If so, have I already passed it? It can be quickly, or can be a month or two. If you haven't heard in six months, apply again, since places usually don't keep applications longer than that.





If it's for a specific position that's advertised and you haven't heard in a few weeks, you probably aren't going to. But if it's a general ad for, say, cashiers or stockers or something like that where they hire all the time for the job, it can be a couple months.
